Your journey begins with a relaxing drive inland toward Cetinje, the former royal capital of Montenegro and a cultural gem nestled at the foot of Lovćen mountain. Along the way, you’ll pass through picturesque mountain roads and traditional villages — a beautiful contrast to the coast.
As you arrive in Cetinje, you’ll step into the heart of Montenegrin history. A walking tour will take you through:
⟡ Biljarda Palace – the residence of Petar II Petrović-Njegoš
⟡ King Nikola’s Palace – beautifully preserved with royal artifacts
⟡ Cetinje Monastery – a spiritual center housing two of the country’s most sacred relics: the Hand of St. John the Baptist and a fragment of the Holy Cross
⟡ Optional visit to the Art Museum, History Museum, or Museum of Money, depending on your interests
Take a moment to enjoy the calm atmosphere of this charming town, surrounded by old architecture, art, and authenticity.
The next stop is the charming mountain village of Njeguši, known for its rustic beauty and traditional Montenegrin cuisine. Take a short walk through the village and enjoy a lunch break, where you can try the famous Njeguši prosciutto and cheese, along with homemade rakija (brandy) if you wish.
This is the perfect place to slow down and feel the rhythm of local life.
After lunch, we continue toward Lovćen National Park, where nature and history intertwine. You’ll ascend through beautiful winding roads toward the top of the mountain, where the legendary Njegoš Mausoleum stands.
A short walk to the top will reward you with one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in Montenegro — overlooking the Bay of Kotor, Skadar Lake, and even the Albanian mountains on a clear day.
